Mel graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2016 and has been building on her experience in both paediatrics and neurology ever since.
Her background includes working in clinics, school settings, inpatient hospital settings, as well as within patient homes in the community.
Her main areas of interest include:
- Sensory Integration
- Play exploration and development
- Dyspraxia and self-regulation
Mel is passionate about working closely with parents, to empower them to actively participate in the therapy process by following expertly designed sensory programmes and guidelines. She also has a keen interest and holding workshops for parents and teachers alike.
She is playful and passionate, playing alongside the children to assure full participation and engagement, and in turn, allowing for the best possible therapy outcomes.
Mel is trained to use a variety of standardized assessment tools, has foundation training in DIR Floortime as well as certification in the Interactive Metronome programme.
She also has training in play therapy and emotional self-regulation
