ZOE GARSIDE

Zoe Garside

Zoe Garside is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and International Behavior Analyst (IBA) with over 10 years of experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Childhood and Youth Studies and a Master of Science degree in Behaviour Analysis and Therapy, from the University of South Wales, UK.

In the UK, Zoe worked at a Behaviour Analysis clinic for children with Autism and other developmental delays providing 1:1 ABA therapy and training university students, and at a pupil referral unit (PRU), for children aged 4 to 11 who had been expelled from their mainstream schools due to behavioural challenges. In the PRU, Zoe supported teachers to implement the Good Behaviour Game in their classroom and individualised behavioural interventions. Zoe moved to Dubai in 2015 to work at the Carbone Clinic Dubai, providing clinic-based applied behaviour analysis (ABA) therapy to children with developmental delays. Since then, she has gone on to supervise home, clinic, nursery, and school-based ABA therapy, for children aged 2 to 16, manage a behaviour analytic centre in a school, and provide school consultation for neurotypical children with behavioural challenges. She supervises candidates for RBT, BCaBA, BCBA, IBT and IBA board certification. Zoe currently oversees the ABA therapy within the Unity Class, an adapted curriculum classroom in a school.

Zoe specialises in teaching language, communication, and pre-academic skills to children, using Skinner’s analysis of verbal behaviour. She is also passionate about teaching functional living skills and social skills. Using the evidence-based and data-driven methods of Applied Behaviour Analysis, Zoe conducts assessments, and designs, evaluates and supervises individualised teaching programmes and behaviour management strategies to best support the children. Zoe assesses language and communication skills, pre-learning skills, play skills, school readiness skills, functional living skills, independent living skills, social skills, and some academics. She provides training and supervision to the team of Behaviour Analysts and ABA Therapists. Zoe provides consultation services and training to parents, teachers, and paraprofessionals on how to teach communication, play and leisure skills, social skills, self-help skills and daily living skills, and how to manage challenging behaviours. She uses an interdisciplinary approach to support children by coordinating with other therapists, such as Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. Zoe has completed training for alternative and augmentative modes of communication, such as PECS and Makaton (Level 1 to 4).
