Mya is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Maynooth University and a master’s degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) from Queens University, Belfast.
Mya has been working in the field of applied behaviour analysis (ABA) for 6 years. In her early career, Mya worked in specialised preschools which had a strong focus on inclusion. Mya supported children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Intellectual Disability (ID), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other related conditions. Mya was responsible for coordinating the inclusion classes which involved conducting skill-based assessments and writing individual education plans (IEP’s) for each child, training and managing a team of behaviour therapists, supervising the implementation of children’s programs, coordinating with mainstream class teachers and other professionals such as Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists, facilitating integration for all students and meeting regularly with parents.
Mya has also worked in clinic settings providing 1:1 ABA therapy to individuals between the ages of 2 and 17. She has experience implementing programs from both academic and daily living skills curriculums, in both clinic and home settings. At Neuropedia, Mya uses skill-based assessments to identify a child’s strengths and the areas where they may need additional support. She then creates individual treatment plans (ITP’s) to target specific skills. These skills can include academic skills, language, and communication skills, play skills, social skills, school readiness skills and daily living skills. Mya supervises ABA Therapists (RBT/IBT certified) who provide daily therapy sessions to clients. Each ABA Therapist applies evidence-based teaching methods derived from the principles of ABA to teach target skills. Mya works closely with parents and provides parent training to promote consistency for clients.
